About YSSP — raising standards in adolescent treatment transport and youth care services

About YSSP

What Transport Should Be

Changing the conversation around adolescent treatment transport.

Adolescent treatment transport is evolving. A new generation of providers is redefining what this work looks like — building practices grounded in dignity, transparency, and genuine care for the young people they serve.

YSSP exists to support that evolution. To give these providers a place to be seen, and to give families, clinicians, and treatment programs the information they need to make confident decisions.

What This Work Actually Is

Adolescent treatment transport, done right, is one of the most consequential moments in a young person's care journey. It's the first real interaction many of these kids have with the system that's trying to help them. The people in that room — in that car, on that flight — are the ones who set the tone for everything that follows.

That means the people doing this work are responsible parties. Families are trusting them with their children — to protect them physically, to protect them emotionally, and often to protect them from their own thoughts during one of the most difficult transitions of their lives. That responsibility demands a certain kind of person: someone who responds with truth, carries themselves with certainty and dignity, and understands that how you show up in those moments matters more than any credential on a wall.

The providers who get this right don't just transport kids. They create the conditions for treatment to work.

The Youth Support Standards Project

YSSP lists providers in the adolescent treatment transport, intervention, and case management space. Families, clinicians, educational consultants, and treatment programs can see who's out there and what the community has to say about them.

Companies can claim their profile, confirm their domain, and write their own descriptions. They manage their own presence. The community — families, peers, former employees — can share their experiences through reviews and references.

Providers who want to take it further can apply for the YSSP designation — a process that involves completing their profile, submitting an application, and being validated by their peers in the field.

Over time, YSSP will expand beyond transport to include other service operators in the adolescent behavioral health space.

What the YSSP Designation Actually Means

Any provider can be listed. The directory is open. But the YSSP designation says something specific about a company — not that they operate exactly like us, but that they've been willing to show who they are and how they work.

We don't prescribe one way to do this. There's no mandated curriculum, no required clinical model, no single playbook. What we look for is whether a company knows what they stand for, whether they're getting better on purpose, and whether they're willing to be transparent about their process.

The designation also requires participation in something that's never existed in this industry — a real data collection effort on adolescent transport. Providers who carry the YSSP stamp have opted into our technology platform and agreed to contribute to the first study of its kind. More on that in Our Standards.

The Bigger Picture

Families should be able to read what other families experienced. Providers should be able to see how they're perceived by their peers. The information that helps everyone make better decisions should be accessible to everyone.

YSSP is building that. A place where the community's voice shapes how providers are understood — through reviews, references, and real experiences. Over time, YSSP will expand beyond transport to include other service operators across the adolescent behavioral health space.

The providers who are doing this work with integrity, with dignity, and with genuine care for the kids in front of them — they deserve to be seen.
